Leave A Comment For Asher
Given the unique circumstances of Asher’s entrance into the world, we haven’t really been able to do all the “fun” baby book stuff that we would have liked to do. As a result, I’d like to try something with the several 100 of you who have been checking in on a regular basis.
Here is what I’d like you to do:
1) Leave a short message
2) Let Asher know who you are and
3) Where you’re from
We will take all of the comments, prayers and words of encouragement and place those in Asher’s baby book for him to remember the many people who were thinking about him before they ever met him.
It has been encouraging to see how many people are thinking about us!
Let Asher know you’re thinking about him here.
This post is in support of Carlos Whittaker’s Creative Chaos.

Asher James,
Wait til you see your bedroom at home, it is so cool. You are the cutest baby I have ever seen.
I love you Asher James,
Your Big Sister,
Jadyn
PS – I really typed the top part!
Dear Ones, I can only imagine the anxious moments you have experienced in the last several days. Babies are such precious gifts and it hurts so much to see them in any distress. Asher is absolutely adorable–just as cute as his big sister–and we are praying he will soon be as strong as her. I know God is leading you through each day and night. At such times we realize it really is His strength that holds us together. I am guessing that God is using you in the lives of others at this time, also. Phil. 4:13, my favorite. Miss Janet
Asher–
This is Pastor Denny and Joyce Leinbach–we live in Fort Wayne, Indiana. When we heard you had come into this world of ours, we had company at our house. Joshua, Gwen, and little Grace Leinbach from California were here visiting. Grace is 6 months old now and she would love to say, “Hi” to you. God has something very important for you in this world and He will be with you always!! This is our prayer for you. From all 5 of us Leinbachs
Hi Asher!
Your Mommy is one of my closest friends. We’ve known each other since we were just geeky little teenagers. Some of my favorite memories of growing up were spent with your mom. I can’t wait to watch while you grow and create amazing memories like the ones your Mommy and I made together.
I love you buddy,
Sarah
Hey there kiddo…your mom keeps pestering me about not posting a note for you so I thought that maybe I should get her off my back:-) For starters, I want you to know that your entrance into the world could have been timed a bit better. I am missing out on the first days of your life and it’s kind of tough. In spite of this absence, I already love you so very much. I’m so very excited to watch you grow and see your personality come to life.
As I sit here an type, so many things to say come to mind, so I’ll limit myself. I think that you should know that I think your mom is quite awesome and your dad isn’t so bad…haha, just kidding. Your dad is wonderful and you’re so very blessed.
As we celebrate your unexpected arrival, we also continue to pray for you unceasingly. Keep fighting little man. You are a very precious gift and a wonderful addition to our ever growing family. I can’t wait to meet you!!
P.S. Don’t let Jade boss you around too
much:-)
Hey Little Man,
I am your aunt Kelly, better known as Lexi and Jarin’s mommy. They are your cousins and they love you very much. They are always asking me if we can get on the computer and see pictures of you and your sister. Jarin has even figured out how to log on to your blog by himself. He is pretty computer savy seeing as how he is only 4 years old.
Your zest for life continues to amaze me; you are one tough little guy. I am excited to see the ways that God has shown his amazing powers, and will continue to show, through you. He must have some amazing plans in store for you. Your miraculous entrance into this world is just the start. I am excited to watch you grow and can’t wait to see His plan for your life unfold.
I hope you know how much I love you and that I will always be here for you. I can’t wait to meet. Until then, continue fighting and know we love you and are praying for you.
Love Always,
Aunt Kelly
Hello there, this is your uncle Nate and hopefully someday your dentist (that is if I don’t mess up Mommy and Daddy’s teeth). I live in Auburn Indiana with your aunt Kelly, your cousin Alexis and your other crazy little cousin Jarin. All I have to say is its good to have another dude in our family of many women.
On a more serious note, your entrance into this world has been very eventful but yet a wonderful blessing to not only your parents but also your uncle Nate as well. You see, it is not every day that I get to see the power of prayer played out in my own life. Being here in Indiana we felt powerless to help you or your parents. However, through prayer we were able to help from many miles away. God has revealed his power to me each day as we have recieved good news of your progress. Many times throughout each day I have stopped to ask the Lord’s blessing over you and your parents. It has been very humbling to see him work in your life and reminds me of his goodness towards us whom he loves.
I will continue to pray for you until everything is ok and you get to go home. We eagerly await your arrival here in Indiana. See you soon.
Uncle Nate
Good morning Asher….it’s Grandma Nancy. I am so excited that you are coming home tomorrow and bringing you mommy and daddy with you! It will make it a very beautiful day!! I showed your picture on the front screen at church yesterday morning, so that everyone could see who they are praying for and a very loud “ahhhhhhhhhhhh” went through the sanctuary!! Your life fills me with awe of the power of our God and I am so blessed to be able to share in your life. There are not sufficient words to tell you how much I love you….I will see you soon.
Love,
Grandma
Hi Asher,
We are in a small group with your mom and dad and have praying for you since we knew of your first moments. We can’t wait for you to be home so we can meet you!
Love, Shelly and Ryan
Hi Asher I hope your healthy and safe and have a safe trip to your new home.
Your cousin,
Alexis
Asher
What a grand entrance into this world you made. With each day the miracle of your life unfolds- and so it will whether you be 8 weeks early or a 100 years old. Know that wherever you go in life, whatever you do that you will never be without a large family that loves you dearly.
Love Grandpa Heffelfinger
Asher,
What a strong man and fighter you are. I look forward to meeting you. You have wonderful parents. They care so much for you, as well as all of us. They will teach you so much and have prayed and cried over you so much. You have great grandparents and aunts and uncles as well. The Sherck family gathering will be lots of fun for you as get older. It is kinda chaotic with all of us, but there are lots of kids your age that would love to play with you. We have been praying for you, and know God will provide.
We love you and can’t wait to meet you.

Wow Asher, hats off to you. You sure did surprise all of us coming into this world a few weeks early…not to mention being born on the family vacation, but I know that you just wanted show off a little bit of your fight and determination with the rest of us, plus you got a headstart on living life with your aweseome family. I’ve become really close friends with your family and espeically your dad, and I know that you’ve got an extra set of 8 uncles back home in his small group. We are all praying for you and looking forward to meeting you so we can start your training for the 2026 World Cup.
Much Love,
Mark
Asher,
I met your daddy in high school, and I know he will take great care of you! Your mom sounds like such a sweet lady too! I know exactly what she has been going through lately, but it sounds like she is staying strong!
I just wanted to let you know that you have to be the cutest baby ever! It sounds like you had such a rough time coming into this world….but it’s worth it in the end! We love you!
Hey little one, I work with your daddy at American Specialty. I have been checking up on you every day and rejoice in your progress. You are one of God’s miracles and He clearly has a special plan for you. We will continue to keep you, Mommy and Daddy and big sister Jadyn in our prayers. Enjoy your flight home!
Dear little Asher,
While I don’t yet know you, I hope I will one day get that privilege. However, I can let you in a something that is very important to you both now and in your future. And that is that your mom and dad love you a whole lot and that they are wonderful, wonderful people.
It’s too bad, but not as many little people, like you, enter the world these days with the kind of love and commitment that your mom and dad have for you, for each other, and for your very big sister.
Right now, I’m trying to stay out of your mom and dad’s hair and out of the way of all the doctors and nurses and other caregivers that you’re needing to get to know. But I pray for you, and my Lizzie – who you don’t yet know either, but will – prays for you that you will be doing well really soon. We know how hard things can be.
But never lose hope.
God bless you, my sweet little one.
Jim O’D
Asher,
Apparently you take after your mom, you want to do things early :) I have been friends with your mom since late elementary school and your dad since middle school. They are wonderful people and God has truly blessed your beginning by placing you in their family. I won’t see you often but I think about your family a lot and I can’t wait to see you grow up! I’m sure God has big plans for you and it will be fun to watch. Give my love to your mom and dad. Can’t wait to meet you, Allison
Asher, I just wanted you to know that you and your mommy & daddy and sister were prayed for the last two Sunday’s during prayer time at the First Church of God in LaGrange, IN. Also our prayer network was notified shortly after you were born so all could pray especially for you.
Our Pastor told about you the first Sunday and ask me to update this past Sunday also different ones have contacted to ask how you are doing.
I was so happy to read on Daddy’s twitter that you had arrived in Ft. Wayne. I followed the progress all morning. I love you…..”GG”
Asher,
Even reading these notes you probably will not know exactly how special you are to your parents and what they are willing to endure to make sure you have the best start to your life. I work with your daddy and know how crazy with worry and how filled with love at the same time he is for you, even if it did take him a week to finally hold you. You are a very special child and already hold the hearts of many. Continue to be strong because it will get you through the tough times facing you now and all the tough times yet to come. And don’t forget to tell your mom and dad that you love them because they sure love you.
I will pray for you every day and it was a great to meet your mom and dad and help out your big sister to get back home to Indiana.
I know that God has great plans for you and that He loves you.
Asher,
I work with your Grandma Kathy. With the help and prayers of her and many others it seems as though you are doing well and have been tucked in safely here in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I look forward to meeting you someday and will continue to prayer for you and your continued improvement.
God Bless,
Tina Whitney
Asher James! I know everyone says you came early, but we know the secret…you came exactly when you were supposed to. God knew you were meant to be a Carolina boy! :)
You are a very blessed little guy! You have wonderful parents who love you a whole lot! I know them from college; I was on the worship team with your daddy for a while, too! Your name is on my bathroom mirror at home and will stay there for a while so I remember to pray for you every day! It’s amazing to see how already in your few days on this earth you’ve brought so many people closer to Christ, and I pray that you will continue to do that for many years to come!
Blessings,
Kendra Brenneman
Hey Asher: Your grandma Mills called me when she heard your mommy was in labor. I was so surprised and worried for you and your mommy and daddy. Your extended family here in LaGrange began to pray for all of you immediately. The Church of God prayer chain was started and that was all we could do. It doesn’t seem like enough sometimes and yet we know God is in control! I have been reading about you and I am so impressed with your daddy. I’ve learned more about him through this time of unexpected blessings. He is a wonderful husband and daddy and I am so happy to see how my nephew loves all of you and puts his trust in God. Our love to all of you. Aunt Cindy and Uncle Marvin
Asher,
Hey buddy. You are obviously much loved by your parents, and I will be praying for you. Grow strong in God!
Love,

Asher,
We haven’t met yet, but I want you to know how much I love you and your entire family. My husband Matt and I have been praying for you and your family over the phone together since I am away at school in Maryland. We are so proud of you for being so strong! I wish that I was home to visit you in the hospital and be there for your mom, but know that my heart is there. Technically I’m your cousin, but you can think of me as the crazy aunt that lives down the street if you want to. I’ll always be there for you and your sister, and you both will always be in my prayers. I love you!

Hey there lil’ guy! My name is Dylan. I live in Seattle and am a friend of your aunt Angela who is a hoot! You have a great family little buddy, they love you and will always do right by you! Keep fightin’ and live the great life that awaits!

Hi Asher,
My name is Ramona Fisher and your parents are very dear to me. God has given you a Mom and Dad that will love you, care for you and do all they can to ensure that you know how much God loves you. Your Dad and Mom invested so much into my son’s life, Matt, when he was in middle school and high school. I feel like I could never repay them for the gift they gave to me as a mother. Now that Matt’s in college I don’t see your parents as often but I keep thinking about you, wondering how you are doing and praying for you every day.
Love,
Ramona Fisher

Asher,
You truly are a little miracle and have already stolen all of our hearts! You are such a strong little boy and prove that over and over again each and every day! God has placed you in an amazing family. Your mom and dad are incredible people and your big sister is one fabulous little girl! =]
It is hard to believe that you will already be one month old in just 4 days from now! I, along with many, many others continue to pray for your continued strength and for that temperature of yours to balance out so that you can come home! I love you Asher James.
“Aunt” Brooke
Asher,
I don’t know you or your family, just your aunt Angela. We went to college together. Shes been telling me all about how she was so excited that she was having a nephew. We talked about the fun things i have done with my nephews. Then she told me that you decided to come early. I tried to keep everything positive. Every time you do something new and great she lets me know. I read all about you on this blog. It is amazing how far you have come already. You look so big! You even got to come closer to home. I pray for you and your family every night to make you guys strong and to safely get through this hard time. I just read about this last week about how you cant keep your temp up. Just take your time, I hope that when you finally do come home you are as healthy as can be. The near future is going to be a rough road for you and your family, but in the end it will be a great learning experience. I cant wait to continue reading about all your big obstacles that you overcome. God Bless
Love,
Lindsey
Asher,
WOW…I sit here with tear filled eyes, as I read your story.
Continue to fight. You need to grow up and see the Dad and Mommy who put their faith in a great God.

Asher and Mill’s Family,
I knew your dad from high school and played soccer with him. My wife and I have been following your progress through the website. We are glad that you are finally home and that the family is in one place.
Congrats CJ! I am glad that things are on the up and up!

Hi Asher- I am very glad and relieved that you are now out of the hospital and home with your family. I have had you in my thoughts and prayers especially when last week you almost went home- then did not make it. The news that you were able to come home through the grace of God is truly inspirational. May your blessings multiply in the years to come. I will continue to follow you and your family thru the blog, and share inspirations with my family and other church members here in the Temecula Valley(in Southern California)
Dear AJ (I wonder if that nickname will stick. ‘Ol CJ’s did),
You’ve entered the world with much adversity, but also amidst much love from warm parents and helpful friends. Life won’t get easier, and, given the manner of your arrival, might get very difficult. But always keep in mind that you have those same warm parents, a knowledgeable big sister, and the many helpful friends to encourage you and offer advice. It’s easy to overlook people, to take their presence for granted, but constantly seek out friendship and you will always find a helping hand and a willing ear. And in all, God is. A motto I found on the back of my Message:Remixed Bible is one I hold is worth sharing.
Read. Think. Pray. Live.
Read: expand your mind, your opinions, your experiences, your vocabulary
Think: critically examine your situations, the past, the present, the future, what you just read, what the media is saying
Pray: depend on the Lord. Prayer is more than a time just for forgiveness and supplication–it’s a time to mentally and physical act to acknowledge God as Lord
Live: employ all that you’ve read, thought about, and prayed about. Do your best
To add to this list: exercise; eat well; sleep well; laugh heartily; become a die-hard fan of a sports team; take education seriously
I’m hoping to be able to discuss this all when you’re older, when your father pulls this note out of the TimeCapsule he’s buried in the backyard. It would be something special….
