Guest Blogger Brent Hodge On Healer
Some of you may recall that while going through all the initial issues with Asher, I found one song particularly fitting for my situation. That song was Healer. The cool thing about the song was that it had a great backstory. Well, this past week the author of the song informed the world that he was lying about his whole story – he did not not does he have cancer – it was all a lie.
There have been several (a lot) of blog posts relating to this situation and how we should respond. I had previously decided not to write up anything about it because I thought enough had been said about it…until my good blogging friend Brent posted his thoughts. I’ve included an excerpt below, but ask that you hop over to his site and read the whole thing….
But, what really hits me in all of it is this. We as Christians have been given an amazing wake up call. A wake up call to evaluate where our hope and passion are found. Is it found in a song? No. Is it found in an amazing testimony? No. Is it found in any human at all? No. “Our hope is found in nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness.”

Brent really hit the nail on the head when he said that our hope should never be in a man, ministry or song. It is in Jesus alone. Situations like this, though sad, remind us of that very important fact.

Thanks for continuing the discussion CJ. This is a great opportunity for us as a church to extend grace and allow God to evaluate and expose our weaknesses.
brent(inWorship)’s last blog post…“Healer”, I think I’ll Say Something
Yeah I definitely have to agree with what Brent said there.
Tyler’s last blog post…Fortuitous Bouncing
Thanks for sharing the truth about the story behind “Healer.” I appreciate your and Brent’s take on where our “focus” needs to be.
Nice sunset shot by the way!
