I’m Blue (Da Ba Dee)

I got tired of the red vibe on the blog, but wasn’t tired of it enough to do a full redesign, so I just decided to change the colors and header images.  This will keep me happy for a while….

One disappointing thing I’ve noticed is how terrible Firefox is on color versus that of Safari.  I guess I never noticed it before with the old header.  I’ve tried to post two images below to help you see what I mean.  The top one is as seen in Firefox, the bottom one as seen in Safari.  For some reason, Firefox just KILLS the colors presented by the header.  Safari shows them as they should be.

Anyways, hope you like it.

  1. I like your colors, looking good.

Yeah the color difference between the two is quite interesting. It was pissing me off so bad one day that I decided to find out what the deal was. I found that most images on the web have an embedded color calibration thingy. (something photoshop has done) Safari reads this but firefox does not.

you can take out the color calibration thing but then everything is washed out on all browser. Seems like we can never win.

And, now you’ve got the Eiffel 65 song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks.

  5. Site looks good! So does your boy!

Here is an option for you on the Firefox issue.

    From a user forum…

““If the digital photo you just uploaded looks washed out on Flickr compared to in your desktop image editor, that’s because Firefox 3’s advanced color profile support isn’t turned on. To enable it, type about:config in Firefox 3’s address bar, then click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button. Then, in the Filter field, type gfx.color_management.enabled and set that value to true (its default value is false). Restart Firefox. From there on in, your photo colors will be richer than they were. Why isn’t this value true by default? Well, according to Mozilla, you’ll see a 10-15% performance hit using this setting, but if you’ve got a reasonably fast machine, it’ll be worth the better-looking photos. Hit the link below for an extended explanation of Firefox’s color profile support.”

I’ve done this and it is better. Maybe a bit washed out, but much closer.
