Best Christmas Decorations Ever

“Good news is that I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is that I had to take him down after two days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down.

First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by.

Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn’t realize that it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of the many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn’t take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.”

Edit: As much as I would love to say this was my creation, it is not. I recieved this in an email and obviously did not explain that well (or at all). The genius behind this beautiful creation is unknown; however, my wife was telling me how our house lacked Christmas decor outside….hmmmm…..

A Generation Of Flamers

I spent the weekend leading worship for our youth. Its always fun to get out and do that as that is how I learned how to play. This weekend made me realize how much I missed youth ministry and the creativity that exists within that field. As I was catching up on blogs last night, I came across the video below – a perfect example of creativity and humor.

This is a video produced for a free youth minister event called Refuge. It was conceived as a satire for what [we] consider to be an unhealthy “rock star” culture that has been growing inside Christendom, as well as an encouragement for the unheralded heroes on the front lines of ministry.

According to Jade, the Fairy Godmother told Cinderella that she was going to go to a ball in Bethlehem by means of a Magic Pumpkin.

How do you explain to a three year old that she may have blasphemed?

I want you to watch all of the video below – especially the end. If you look closly, the show is showing the iguana poop strawberry seeds. Seriously. I was watching this with my daughter over the weekend and had to hit up the rewind feature of the DVR to make sure I was truly hearing what I was hearing, and seeing what I was seeing.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about educational programing, and I’m well aware that Everyone Poops, but come on…this is a bit ridiculous, don’t you think? Educational or disgusting?

I found this photo while going through some of Jade’s old baby photos. This was her first Halloween. My office invites staff famies to bring in their kids for some trick-or-treating. My wife did an awesome job of turning an old stuffed soccer ball into a costume for our little girl. Looks like it created an early interest in soccer.

Lazy Sunday – Football With Jade

I’ll be honest, I forced sports on Jade when she was little. She now knows how to kick a soccer ball and is pretty good at throwing a football (catching is a much different story). I’ve enjoyed spending these “athletic moments” with her.

Well, it was only a matter of time before she realized she was a little girl and should do girly things. The photo below is evidence of this. This is what I found when looking for Jade after she disappeared from our game of catch…

At least she cares enough about the football to cover it up!
